Event: Ethical Promotion in Animal Assisted Services: A Member Reflection Workshop

As AASI members, the way we share and promote our work plays an important role in upholding animal welfare, respecting the people we support, and maintaining public trust in Animal Assisted Services.

This interactive online workshop is designed for AASI members to come together for an open and thoughtful conversation about the photos, videos, and language we use when communicating about our work. The session is grounded in the ethical and welfare principles of the AASI Standards of Practice, with a focus on shared reflection rather than instruction.

Participants are welcome (but not required) to bring examples of promotional materials to explore together. Through guided discussion, we’ll consider topics such as equipment and handling shown in images, recognising signs of stress or comfort in animals, and how our messaging may be interpreted by different audiences. We will also talk about the language we use to describe our work.

This session offers a supportive space to think together about ethical promotion in real-world contexts — not about right or wrong, but about strengthening aligned, thoughtful practice across the AASI community.
